Discipleship According to the Bible, a growing devotion to Jesus Christ should matter to every Christian. At New Journey, we’re absolutely convinced of it. As a matter of fact, we consider a growing full devotion to Jesus Christ and his cause a normal thing for those who call themselves followers of his. This is the journey of discipleship and it begins with a simple confession – "Jesus, you are indeed God and I am not." Out of that confession Jesus invites His followers to know God deeper through the gift of His Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38) and the practical living out of the disciplines of faith. By "the disciplines" we mean the practices of faith as shown in the Bible. Things like prayer, study of the Bible, service, healthy community, fasting, stewardship, worship and more. These things invite us into more than just a greater understanding of God. These things virtually usher us into the privilege of being conduits of His grace to the world. We become, in part, the fulfillment of the prayer of Jesus in Matthew 6:10 - God’s kingdom coming and His will being done right here on earth as it is in heaven. Discipleship is more than merely obeying rules. It's about positioning ourselves to be fully awake as God invites us to join Him in the greater things He is up to in the world. With this at stake we seek to offer ongoing platforms for attenders to raise the bar of their intention to not just call themselves Christians but to live as Christians right here - right now.
